Te Pahu Broadband

The Te Pahu Broadband Society Inc, was formed to provide broadband services to the community.

It has been a successful partnership between the Government (Ministry of Economic Development); Rurallink (our ISP and provider of innovative technology) and the Community.  And as a result of the community installing broadband, Telecom decided to also, so from very poor dial-up we've moved to two broadband systems - not to mention the more expensive satellite systems.

To get connected with TPBB phone Sharon on ...9981 or go here to find out more and send an enquiry.

Here's where the repeaters are (click on the image for a bigger version)

To be able to join the broadband network you need to have a "line of sight" view of one of these repeaters.
Trees or a hill in the way will cause the connection to be unreliable.  We can extend the cable at your house by a short distance or provide a repeater at additional cost.

Here's a diagram of a standard installation.  A 30cm x 30cm antenna unit is installed on your roof where it can "see" the repeater; from this is connected a 25m ethernet cable to a power supply adapter near your computer, a short ethernet cable connects the computer.

Once you have a good internet connection, you can add a wireless router to create your own home network, and perhaps have a telephone over the internet:
